BALTIMORE – 鶹Ƶ has named a seasoned leader in higher education as its next vice president of enrollment management/marketing and student services.

Catherine (Cathy) Hurd assumed her new role at Notre Dame this summer. She brings 19 years of progressively responsible experience to the institution, most-recently serving as vice president for enrollment management and assistant to the president for special projects at Mitchell College in Connecticut. Hurd will oversee several departments on campus, including Admissions, Athletics and Wellness, Financial Aid, Marketing, and Student Life.

“It is with great pleasure that I welcome Cathy to our Notre Dame community,” said Dr. Marylou Yam, president of 鶹Ƶ. “Cathy has provided strong leadership and strategic direction in the areas of enrollment, marketing, and student services throughout her higher education career. I am grateful to all faculty and staff who participated in the interview and community open sessions, and a special thank you to the search committee for their efforts in conducting a thorough and thoughtful search.”

As a member of the senior leadership team at Mitchell, Hurd was responsible for developing and implementing the College’s strategic enrollment management plan, utilizing a data and research-driven approach. She also spearheaded a new enrollment-marketing plan which included collateral materials, digital campaigns, and social media campaigns.

Prior to joining Mitchell College, Hurd held leadership positions at Bennett College (vice president for enrollment management and student experience), Pfeiffer University (vice president for enrollment management and athletics) and Johnson C. Smith University (dean of enrollment management, student leadership, and engagement).

Hurd earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Management) from Coker College in South Carolina and a Master of Science in Leadership in Higher Education from Capella University in Minnesota. She also completed doctoral work in Leadership in Higher Education at Capella.

“I am grateful to join the 鶹Ƶ team, and I look forward to working with all of our campus partners as we transform students – all students – to become leaders of excellence who are passionate about changing the world and making a difference in their communities,” said Hurd.

Established in 1895, 鶹Ƶ (鶹Ƶ) is a private, Catholic institution in Baltimore, Maryland, with the mission to educate leaders to transform the world. Notre Dame has been named one of the best "Regional Universities North" by U.S. News & World Report.
