Find out about professional licensure before beginning an academic program at 麻豆视频.

Disclosure Disclaimer: This information is developed to inform students and other stakeholders about the 麻豆视频 programs that lead to professional licensure or certification. Programs omitted from this list are not intended to lead to a professional licensure or certification. Since the Professional Licensure and certification requirements vary from state to state, disclosures posted here can be used to confirm if programs offered by 麻豆视频 meet the educational prerequisites for professional licensure or certification within and outside the state of Maryland.

麻豆视频 will review and update the licensure information semi-annually. Students who plan to pursue licensure for any programs should be aware that state licensure requirements are subject to changes. Students should always check with their state licensure board to confirm licensure requirements

Requirements for Professional Licensure

Requirements for professional licensure in fields such as education, nursing, and pharmacy vary from state to state. 麻豆视频 academic programs are designed to meet Maryland's licensure requirements and may not meet requirements from other states.

Before beginning any academic program that leads to licensure or certification, 麻豆视频 highly recommends that you contact the appropriate state licensing board where you wish to seek licensure or certification to determine whether the program you are considering will meet that state's licensing or certification requirements. At this time, 麻豆视频 has not determined, except as specifically identified below, whether our academic programs meet the licensure or certification requirements for all US states, territories, or the District of Columbia.

Completion of a 麻豆视频 degree program does not guarantee employment in any profession. Prior to enrollment, students are responsible for confirming all education, testing, and licensing requirements in their chosen field.

Criminal Background Information

Some states' laws require a criminal background check and may disqualify an individual from obtaining licensure if the individual has been convicted of certain crimes. If you have a criminal background, please check with the appropriate state licensing board where you wish to work for more information.

Actuarial Science (Post-Baccalaureate Certificate)

Exams and Requirements

There are no individual state certification requirements. All certifications are given at the national society level. The 麻豆视频 PBC in Actuarial Science program prepares students for the associate actuarial certification examinations of Society of Actuaries and Casualty Actuarial Society, and thereby does meet the academic requirements for certification in all 50 states.

This structured program comprises a number of credit-bearing University courses, but is not a Terminal Degree. The program is ideal for those who want to have a professional knowledge of the actuarial industry. With the PBC, students will gain actuarial knowledge spanning topics including investment and asset liability management, property and casualty insurance, pensions, and life insurance.

In order to become a credentialed actuary, you will need to pass a series of professional examinations, demonstrate a strong background in other subject areas (VEE requirements), and complete practically oriented modules and a course on professionalism.

Experience an interactive guide through the SOA's Education requirements.

Learn everything you need to know about attaining the ASA and FSA designations and the CERA credential

  • Pensions, Life, Health, Benefits & Risk Management

To attain the ASA designation, a candidate must successfully complete the requirements shown below, and have the Application for Admission as an Associate approved by the SOA Board of Directors. Requirements include examinations, an e-Learning course, a proctored project assessment, validation of educational experiences outside the SOA Education system (VEE), and a professionalism seminar.

To attain the CERA credential, a candidate must successfully complete the requirements shown below. Requirements include examinations, an e-Learning module, validation of educational experiences outside the SOA Education system (VEE), and a professionalism seminar. In addition, candidates who have the Application for Admission as an Associate approved by the SOA Board of Directors and pass the Predictive Analytics Exam will be granted membership as an ASA.

Requirements to attain the FSA designation include exams, e鈥揕earning courses and modules, a proctored project assessment, validation of educational experiences outside the SOA Education system (VEE), a professionalism seminar and the Fellowship Admissions Course.

Fellowship candidates choose a specialty track and complete the requirements of that track (must complete all requirements in a single track). Candidates have flexibility with regard to the order requirements are completed. However, the SOA has established a recommended order for each fellowship track, which is also reflected in the table below. Candidates should be aware that an examination/module may assume familiarity with material that is covered in any requirement that is recommended to come before that examination or module.

Candidates seeking to attain an FSA must also complete the ASA requirements. This is typically done in advance of beginning a fellowship track.

Enhancements to the FSA pathway will provide a better learning experience, increased flexibility, and ensure greater global relevancy. .

  • Property & Casualty

The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) is a leading international organization for credentialing and professional education. Founded in 1914, the CAS is the world鈥檚 only actuarial organization focused exclusively on property and casualty risks and serves over 9,000 members worldwide. CAS members are experts in property and casualty insurance, reinsurance, finance, risk management and enterprise risk management. Professionals educated by the CAS empower business and government to make well-informed strategic, financial and operational decisions.

Alcohol & Drug Counseling (Post-Baccalaureate Certificate)

The curriculum for the Alcohol and Drug (post-grad) Certificate program leading to a certificate from 麻豆视频 has been designed to meet the academic requirements for certification in Maryland, as well as preparing students to apply for the certification exam in the State of Maryland. The licensure/certification boards in each state are responsible for establishing the requirements for licensure/certification for their state. Students who intend to return or move to any state other than Maryland need to review the professional licensure/certification requirements pertaining to their program and consult with the state professional licensing/certification board from the links provided.

Art Therapy (MA)

Disclaimer

Credentials in the professional field of art therapy are managed by the American Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB).

The ATCB serves to protect the public by promoting the competent and ethical practice of art therapy. It manages the credentialing and testing processes of art therapists (in alignment with the American Art Therapy Association (AATA)) to ensure the professional and high-caliber practice of the profession. Nationally, the ATR or ATR-BC credential assures that an art therapist has a high-caliber of education, training, and experience. Registered Art Therapists (ATRs) have demonstrated a rigorous level of education and training. Board Certified Art Therapists (ATR-BCs) have the added credential if they pass a comprehensive national exam.

Beyond the national credentials of ATR and ATR-BC, some states and territories have additional state licensure options OR mandates for art therapy practice.  What follows is an assessment of current state licensure options OR mandates for art therapist practice by state.

To be clear, licensure in art therapy specifically or in an allied, 鈥渦mbrella鈥 field is not required in most states for practice.

Master鈥檚 Degree training and some level of post-graduate credentialing (ATR or ATR-BC) through ATCB is generally required for practice nationwide.

Dual Degree Law (BA / J.D.)

麻豆视频 Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Baltimore School of Law allows students to save time and tuition by finishing their degrees on an accelerated track. Instead of taking the usual seven years to earn their undergraduate and law degrees, they can complete the dual-degree program in just six years. Students are awarded their bachelor鈥檚 degrees at the end of their fourth year and are eligible to participate in the School of Arts, Sciences and Business graduation ceremonies at that time.

The Juris Doctor is typically awarded after two additional years as a full-time law student on successful completion of the required course credits in the Law School and of all other JD requirements. The University of Baltimore School of Law is approved by the Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar of the American Bar Association (ABA).

Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD)

All 50 states in the United States plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Guam require occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants to be licensed to provide occupational therapy services. A license grants you the legal privilege to practice occupational therapy in the state in which you are licensed.

Your occupational therapy license is not the same as the certification that you earn by passing the exam administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)

Teacher license reciprocity allows educators who hold a teaching license in one state to earn a license in another state, subject to meeting state-specific requirements. Most states have policies in place to extend reciprocity for certain teachers, and a few states provide full reciprocity for all fully licensed teachers from other states.

It is the student鈥檚 responsibility to check the state teaching licensure requirements for the state they wish to seek employment. 麻豆视频 has not determined each state, territory or the District of Columbia鈥檚 licensure reciprocity or alignment with its Maryland curriculum.

Below, we provide students links to each state鈥檚 teacher licensure profile and directory. Please use these resources to see a 50-state comparison of teacher licensure reciprocity and links to additional information.

麻豆视频鈥檚 Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is fully approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing. 麻豆视频 BSN graduates are eligible to take the National Council on Licensing Examination-RN (NCLEX-RN). Contact the School of Nursing if a specific State Board of Nursing requires documentation that you are eligible to register for the NCLEX-RN examination.

麻豆视频 has not made a determination of whether the Nursing curriculum meets educational licensure requirements of other states, territories or the District of Columbia unless listed below.

A link to a list of all states/jurisdictions where the institution has not made a determination of whether the curriculum meets educational requirements is listed below through the National Council for State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) website. Students may use this online resource to check licensure requirements for a specific professional license or certification that is required for employment in a Nursing occupation. A link to this resource is provided below, as well as a link to all 50 states licensure boards.
